For Your Fabulous Self!

Good morning (in my neck of the woods), everyone! I was just organizing lots of my online and offline publications and have felt so inspired to create again. I am going to make some sort of schedule to create cards easily and frequently starting next year. So excited!

Anyway, this is my latest card. I had Valentine’s Day on my mind while creating this, but the image sort of drawing me to a girly friendship card. Hehe.

Oldie But Goodie

This is actually a card I made a couple of months ago. But I was so busy with HYCCT challenges that it slipped my mind to posting this card here hehe.

The image was colored using Copic marker, but was using the wrong paper. Ugh… It’s so hard to blend with that paper. But it still looks pretty good nonetheless hehe :)

CAS and sugared flowers

Hello everybody! I’m sorry I’ve been MIA. There are a lot of things that’s going on but now things are slowly looking up and good :)

Anyway, I am back today with a card to share with all of you. I experimented with clear glitter a while ago and ‘sugared’ some Prima flowers. Love the result! I think I may do this on all my flowers :D

Shop ‘Til You Drop!

How was your Thanksgiving weekend everyone? We don’t have Thanksgiving here but boy did I shop my way through Black Friday (online, of course) ;p Anyway, I hope you all have recovered hehe.

Here’s a new card from me today. Again, still for HYCCT challenge. This is my take for HYCCT1126, the theme is Send a Little Sunshine where we make a card of encouragement and hope.

Trying My Hand At Embossing

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving for those who celebrate it! Here’s hoping you are surrounded by all things warm and beautiful!

When I finally bought heating tool (heat gun) last month I was so excited with all the possibilities I can do with it. Until I tried it out for the first time. The result was messy and it didn’t raise up! I panicked a little. I mean, that and the embossing powders cost quite a bit of money! Finally a couple of weeks later I tried a new technique and found why it didn’t work the way I’d imagined it the first time. First, the paper (like, d’oh, always the problem with me! hehe) was too fibrous. I used my usual colored carstock instead of thick and fibrous cardstock and it was perfect! Second of all, the heating should stop once the powder melted and looks glossy. Otherwise it’ll just be absorbed into the paper and it wouldn’t have that ‘raised’ look. So here are my experiment’s results.

HYCCT_14

This was done for HYCCT1114, the theme is “It touches all of us” where we have to make a pink collage. I chose to do this one.

Now this one is for HYCCT1131, the theme is It's a Costume Party where we should create a card that isn’t our usual style. Well this one is it… No patterned papers! Hahaha. It was quite hard… Really itching to use my papers, but the embossing steals the stage and it still looks pretty without my precious patterned papers ;)

Sansodor and Colored Pencils

A while back, I posted that I bought Sansodor (otherwise in US known as OMS or Gamsol) to try a new coloring technique. I wanted to have an alternative coloring method other than using my Copics (in other word, a cheaper alternative hehe). I said in that post that the method didn't work for me, but apparently I was wrong. After finding out that a friend almost exclusively colored using this method and thought she was using Copics I was intrigued again. I found out that the paper used for this technique has a lot to do with the success of using this technique. I switched to using smooth surface paper and I was in awe! My cheap Faber Castell colored pencils did a mighty fine job! The card I made below was a result of one of the experiments I did with OMS and colored pencils. This wasn't the finest one, I did a lot better coloring with my TGF stamp but for now I'll show you this beginner coloring I did hehe.

This is also my take on HYCCT1121 challenge, theme is “Big Or Small, Save Them All!” in which we need to use two sizes of a geometric shape (circle, oval, square, etc).

Fall Colors

As you probably know, Indonesia is a tropical country, but I‘ve always loved fall colors. My fave season is spring but when fall came while I was still living in Australia, it was always so gorgeous outside! The card below was inspired by those warm brownish hues.

This card is also a take on HYCCT1105, a sketch challenge. Here is the sketch:

Wishing You Well

Somehow this card should be sent to me hehe. I am making a great recovery, I even went out today with my niece and accompany her to the mall playgr0und. She was so happy!

I made this card for HYCCT1107 challenge and the theme is Colors of Hope where we have to use the colors green and yellow to represent hope also brown to represent comfort. Here is my take.

Cupcake!

It’s a bit late but I wanted to check in. Thanks so much for those of you who messaged me about me being sick. I am slowly getting better, but it’s looking good :D I’m going to keep this short, and sweet… With a little cupcake!

This is a card made for HYCCT challenge HYCCT1120 and the theme is Treat Yourself or create something with food/beverage on it. So I chose my fave subject and food… Cupcake :D

Say Cheese

Pardon the cyber dust this blog has been collecting… I have been sick for a week! No kidding! I have this bad cold and cough that just won’t end! I have tried loads of meds combos and only today did it die down a liiiiiiiiiitttle bit. So here I am posting again.

I made this still for the HYCCT challenge, for HYCCT1113 to be exact, and the theme is Butterflies of Hope.

Cupcake Book-Card

It’s a card! It’s a box! No, it’s a book! Well you know what.. It’s all that! ;) This is a book card, which could be used as a box too. Neat huh? I made this (still) for the HYCCT challenge. The HYCCT1108 theme is Hang in There, so we can use any image or element that we usually hang. I chose charm element on the inside of this card.

HYCCT_20a

You see that rose? I made it myself! I  used Spellbinders’ Rose Creations and ‘sugared’ it with glitter. The leaves are actually a Prima flower, I just offset it beneath the flower.

HYCCT_20b

The left side is a pocket which holds a tag and the right side I’m planning to fill with tea bags, Peach Dilmah one, my fave. This will go out to a friend I’m meeting today :)

Wonderful Mother

I rarely make shaped cards, partly because my dies don’t go up to the regular card size, but while doing HYCCT challenge (HYCCT1101C) with the theme Encircled With Love that made us create a circle card I fell in love :D It looks so nice and elegant eventhough it’s kind of small (I used the biggest size of my die).

Bling It Up!

When I saw the HYCCT1101B challenge theme: Bling the Cling, I thought about the blings I recently bought. Some pretty flourish blings and dew drops would be perfect to pretty up my card. I also took out my Sew Easy after burying it on my pile of tools for a couple of months. Hehe. I haven’t had the confidence to use it until I made this card. It turns out cute :)

Pretty Mermaid from Tahaa

Happy Monday everyone! You know I really think I would finish all of HYCCT cards by now but I am a few cards short. I don’t want to just make any cards, I want to make cards that I actually like, I don’t compromise :D I will showcase them here in the next couple of weeks and will still finish all of them soon.

So anyway, this is probably my most favorite HYCCT card I’ve made so far. No wonder because the challenge’s (HYCCT1122) theme is Find Your Happy Place. My happy place is the beach, but not just a beach, white sandy beach with clear aqua water. Ahhhhh, I feel peaceful and happy already thinking about it heehee. Oddly, I am a beach girl but not a sea girl. I’m a bit scared of open waters so I stick to sipping cold mocktails on dry land ;)

Speaking of happy place, I chose the picture as my inspiration. This is Le Taha’a, my most ultimate travel to list. Hopefully one day I can go there. It is located in Tahaa, French Polynesia. Do you see how the island aligns with the volcano mountain? It’s just the perfect spot!

Icy Birthday Wishes

I just got loads of new goodies in the mail. I am so excited! The die I used for the card below is one of the dies I’ve been eyeing for a while. Right now I am buying collecting die cuts rather than buying stamps. I don’t know… They sorta makes a simple card looks amazing, the oomph and wow factor! :D

Hello! Aloha!

Good morning everyone! Hubby took me and my niece swimming yesterday. It was such a lovely day since it seems we owned the place since nobody was there except us! Heehee. I was totally knackered to bits but I think I am a little fitter right now ;)

I’ve been having fun creating cards with summer images. I hope you don’t mind hehe, these images  make me happy and as I said before, place where I live always have a tropical weather :)

Mermaid Tilda

Hello everybody! Oh it has been a lovely weekend! I had a great time with my family, so fun! And now I am back with a new card to share with you all.

I am in love with this image, although I guess when I bought it I didn’t quite factor in the season haha. But, I am never a ‘seasonal cardmaker’ anyway, so I can make any cards I want. And that’s including this one. You might not see it clearly, but there is an acetate that’s framing her.. I tried to make her like underwater and the acetate was the window. hehe. I kinda mess up the hair though… I hate it when I do that, but I already colored the whole body and scales so I figure ah well I’ll just run with it. hehe.

Flutterby

I am leaving for Bandung today, just a quick weekend getaway with my family. I am really excited and I know this is something that everyone is looking forward to and also needed so badly. Hehe.

Anyway, I’ve been up since 5, packed, showered and had breakfast all by 7 o’clock. So what do I do to kill the time? Finish up my cards hahhaa.

Okay, here is a simple surprisingly no patterned or digi paper *GASP!* at all card.

Just Saying Hello!

I have been wanting to post since a couple of days ago, but hubby got sick on and off since weekend so I hadn’t had the time to blog.

Anyways, how is your day? I just bought a heating tool. I think I may have to learn how to use it properly though, since my embossed powder didn’t go as it was suppose to. Perhaps it’s just the powder? I know people prefer Zing, but as my ‘starter set’ I bought Martha Stewart three-set one. Well anyway, I’ve been wanting a heat tool for a while now so I’m pretty happy :)

Here’s what I got to share with you today.

Never More Than A Thought Away

How was your Word Cardmaking Day celebration? Did you do many cards? I did manage to make some cards! Thank goodness for hybrid crafting! I can whip something really easily and fast and looks like it’s been done for hours ;)

Last Friday was my last day doing morning shows on my radio. It has been an great excellent run for two years and I am both happy and relieved to end it. Not to worry, I will still be around doing the afternoon shows :) Anyway, I am so happy that now I will have more time for myself and my family. Usually I get up at 4 in the morning and went to work and stuff and I don’t get home until about 7 at night. Right now, as I am taking a break for a while, I will have time to sleep in and do more stuff like making lunch for hubby hehe. Anyway, I created this card for those who were involved in the morning show. I might not see them as much anymore, but they are never more than a thought away.

2011 World Cardmaking Day

NEW_WCMD_2009

Happy World Cardmaking Day to all cardmakers out there! This is my first time participating in the blog tour. I hope you are all having fun :)

I remember making cards since I was a little girl. When I was in college I would make them with wrapping papers, I have not yet discovered the wonders of scrapbook patterned papers hehe. Then since I’m always a tech geek, I discovered digital scrapbooking. It didn’t take me long to try out hybrid scrapbooking and crafting. It has been more than a year since I’ve exclusively made cards and it really makes me happy. Some of the finished cards I give away and some of them I keep. I love the look on people’s faces when they know they were given a handmade card. I think their joy of receiving handmade cards exceed the joy of getting the actual gift hehe.

I have a couple of cards lining up to be posted and I don’t know which one I’d like to showcase today, but I found this one to have a perfect sentiment for today. I am sending you all cardmakers out there, around the world, a warm Happy World Cardmaking Day wishes. Keep creating, keep being creative and keep making the world a better place -- one card at a time ;)

Fall-in For A Friend

My best friend and soulmate came up for a short visit from Sydney last weekend. I was feeling very blessed and grateful that I get to see her on those three days. We squeezed in a little quality time and had a great time. I have been friends with her for almost 17 years now, and what’s amazing is that half of those times we were always apart. I went to junior high school with her, then in high school I went to a private school in Jakarta and she went to a semi-military national school on scholarship about 13 hours away from Jakarta. Then after high school I continued on to move to Australia for college while she went on to finish her undergraduate and masters degree in Jakarta. We were reunited in the same city after I went back from Australia. It lasted for 5 years until she went on to take her specialist education in Australia. She is now settled, married and is expecting her first child in Sydney. Our relationship is so special because all those distances never once made us dissolved. We love each other so much, we share everyday and she is one of the best things to ever happened to me. So I made this card for her. I am going to mail it to her along with a blank mini album she requested me to do for her pregnancy gift hehe.

The Card That Started Things Again

Do you remember that unfinished card that set me off to creating cards again? Well here it is below. It is a shaker AND a pop-up card. Can you tell that cupcakes make me creative? :p

Front:

Inside:

Dies: Spellbinders

Seed beads and ribbed ribbon.

You may see that the coloring isn’t as good as the other two cards I posted before. Yes, you are quite right. With this one I used cold-pressed watercolor paper. I experienced with a lot of different papers for my Copic, with this one I wanted to see how it goes because it was kind of off-white (it has a warm tone) and it has interesting ‘ridged’ texture. Turns out it sucked my Copic’s ink and I needed to blend a lot. Certainly not going back to this one. I intended to use the paper with gamsol/sansodor, but I found that the technique wasn’t for me. Back to Copic it is, and of course my smooth papers ;)

Last Saturday I also just got new stamps and ink stash. At the moment I am so into coloring characters, but when my PTI order came I fell in love with object stamping again. Will share a new card made with it later this week. And I also ordered a Magnolia stamp – Little Mermaid Tilda – which I think officially makes me have a new crave/obsession. I love mermaid images! I just got Sweet November’s Bubbles Lostlagoon and am thinking about also getting La-La Land Crafts’ Mermaid Marci. It’s a good thing we have an all year tropical weather here so I can create any summery card whenever I want heehee.

Oh! By the way, have you seen Dani Mogstad’s recent kits? So adorable!!! Check these out:

Just A Note

Hello all! It is such a lovely day today. It’s such a shame that three days ago the south part of Jakarta got showered with rain but our part of Jakarta (North) didn’t get any spritz at all! Ah! I love summer, but this time it’s so hot and dry that the mosquitos are breeding and feeding like crazy!!!! Hopefully in the next two weeks the rainy season will start and I can get that cool weather to relax to, at home… hahaha, why at home? Because when you’re in Jakarta and it’s raining while you’re still on the road, it’s definitely a road to hell! You could be stuck 1-3 hours on the road just because it rains!

Anyway, I am back with another card. This card is simple and I made it because I wanted to color some images I bought a couple of weeks ago with some new Copic colors I got few days ago. I told myself to just make anything. Simple, colored, embellished, or just one layer… Just create! Otherwise I would never get into the mood again. And you know what? It worked! I’ve fallen in love with creating cards again!

So anyway, I wanted to tell you about my hard drive that was wiped out. It was actually my own fault. I did some re-organizing and wanted to create a new folder with all my digital supplies categorized. When I cut and pasted the folders I guess it didn’t complete the transfer and then it was LOST! I only found out a few days after and I got so panic! So I called a data recovery service and they charged me insane amount to retrieve those lost data, but I figured hey all those bought supplies are probably worth even more so I said yes. Once it was done I realized that there was a lot of corrupt data on the recovered files. I could not open or use the files. When I asked the data recovery service to look into it they avoided me and never got back to me even until now. I was so brokenhearted. I got all the files backed up on DVDs and I can simply un-zip them again, but I already lost my crafting mood. So what did I do to get myself in the mood again? Buy. new. (digi)kits. Even then it didn’t instantly boosts my mood. Took me a while to get back into things. And it started with an unfinished card I found in my drawer. Finished it, then slowly I dusted my stamps, just inking a few things without making cards out of them. Then time flies and I’ve made 3 new cards already. :)

Anyway, here are my ‘idle time’ digi purchases:
